FALLOUT PHYSICAL PROTOTYPE PROJECT
In collaboration with Cody Bolton, Jhon Vergara, Nicolas Ruiz, and Travis Kosier, this "paper prototype" is based on the iconic Fallout series and hopes to capture some of the highlight experiences of the games including senses of exploration, risk, and character progression. A spread of playing cards is used to represent undiscovered locations forming the Wasteland map, each with their own characteristics and offering opportunities to scavenge equipment or participate in potentially dangerous encounters. The discovery of these locations is simulated by turning over the cards and reading what the player must do next. Quest cards challenge the player to reach a location in the wasteland and successfully complete required tasks to be rewarded with equipment and new skills. These skills help the player grow strong enough to defeat the deadly final boss and beat the game!
